Tasha Tudor Appreciation Day

I'm late! I'm late! I really meant to have this post up by this morning, because of course I want to participate in Tasha Tudor Appreciation Day! It's been an awful week-- a death in the family; my husband helping to plan the funeral and doing all the bureaucratic stuff that goes with death; crises and troubles at work; and for different reasons, both kids dreading the start of school next week... It just is too much. Too much stress.

I'll bet Tasha Tudor's life was rarely stressful. Imagine blissfully quiet days living just exactly as you want to live... It's something I've been thinking more and more about lately. Not that I would want to live my life as though I lived in the 19th century-- I'm way too much of a techie-geek girl for that! But the idea of Mrs. Tudor doing just what she wanted to do... why are we so afraid to do that? It's money for me. And the fear of being without it.

Anyway, I digress! Mrs. Tudor lived as she liked, and produced beautiful art, wonderful stories, and a fabulous garden. An admirable woman. I've known her art since I was two years old, when I was given a copy of her illustrated prayer book at my baptism. Her art may be precious to some, but to me it is absolutely lovely. I drink it in, and can look at her pictures for long periods of time... imagining. Her drawings are a calm spot in a crazy world.

Mrs. Tudor means something more to me, though-- she was a corgi lover! I've written a whole page about her over at Squidoo... come on over and check it out!

Today, August 28th, would have been Tasha Tudor's 93rd birthday. Blogger Celine Fox-Hughes over at Storybook Woods came up with the idea for the whole world to take a step back and remember Mrs. Tudor today. Check out the links on Storybook Woods to see how other bloggers are marking the day. Or leave a link to your Tasha Tudor blog post in the comments!

Have a wonderful, peaceful evening, and a happy Tasha Tudor Day!
